The bloody civil war that has taken hold of the Mexican city of Ciudad Victoria has begun to spillover to other cities in Tamaulipas and the neighboring state of Nuevo Leon. The war expanded while two rival factions of the Los Zetas drug cartel continue to fight for control of trafficking territories. Local news outlets have largely ignored most of the violence in Tamaulipas.
As Breitbart Texas previously reported, two factions of Los Zetas have been at odds for the better part of four months. At the beginning of the year, one of those factions began a very aggressive push in Ciudad Victoria that has resulted in several gruesome executions and dozens of narco-banners that have sparked mass terror in the small community. While small in size, the city is the state capital of Tamaulipas and is home to all of the major government offices in the region.
One of the factions which had control of the region goes by the name of Cartel del Noreste (CDN). The new rival faction goes by the name Grupo Bravo, Vieja Escuela Zetas (Old School Zetas). The new faction has gone on the offensive as as Breitbart Texas has been reporting. The fighting has led to various beheadings, dismemberments and shootings in various sections of the city’s public areas.
The rise in violence and the silence by the local media helped spread rumors about additional terror attacks in some of the schools in Ciudad Victoria. The fear by the community and the lack of response by the Tamaulipas government resulted in most parents having their children miss school.
