WASHINGTON TIMES — While many Democrats are warning against taking presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump lightly, Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez of Illinois predicted Thursday an “early” election night come November, saying there will be “quite a sweep” for Democrats across the country.
“You’re not going to be coming home late and waking up the next day [because] you had to work [into] the late hours,” Mr. Gutierrez, a supporter of Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, said on MSNBC. “It’s going to be [an] early election night. … It’s going to be quite a sweep of Democrats across this country.”
Mr. Trump met Thursday with House Speaker Paul D. Ryan and other GOP leaders in D.C., with those involved generally reporting the meetings as positive steps toward unifying the Republican party.
“It’s the Trump party now, and it’s something that they’re going to have to deal with,” Mr. Gutierrez said.
